Blue Orange Green Pink Purple

The blog of a married, twenty-something, physician assistant student just trying to figure out God's plan for her life.

Sleep isn't easy

My body hates me. I studied last night until about 11:00. After that, Chris and I packed the house - almost everything is ready to go. We went to bed about 12:30, but it took me awhile to get to sleep.

After going to bed late, knowing that I had a big day today (important exam, moving, flying to California, etc), my body decides to wake me up at 3:45, then 4:15, then 5:00. Each time I didn't really feel like I ever went back to sleep - just that I was lying there for that long and finally decided to check the time again. It was horrible!

Body, you stink!

So close!

One more test to go. One more test to go! One more test to go-O!

Well, until Thanksgiving break anyway. I've got plenty of exams and finals coming up right after it, but right now there are only 2 things on my mind: California and Lyla!

Oh, and Clin Med, because that's what I'm studying for tomorrow. Uh, and moving since we're moving the furniture between my last test and when the cab picks us up to go to the airport. Pray I make it through!

Lyla!

Chris and I were contemplating adopting a dog since our new place will allow us to have one. We had been researching breeds, calculating costs, etc. We had pretty much decided that we would wait until January after the holidays, but then Lyla happened.

We saw her on the Nashville Metro Animal Control website while looking up Australian Shepherd mixes. She was listed as a 1 year old, female, name: Zaiah, and we noticed that she had been there about a month. Metro puts animals down after a certain period of time, so on a whim, Chris and I decided to go check her out. She was so cute and really sweet, but we knew that they wouldn't hold her for us until after our Thanksgiving vacation in California.

We left and went home, sad that we couldn't have this great dog. We liked her so much that we decided to go back once more (about 2 hours later). When we inquired about adopting her, they said that she needed to be spayed and that her spay appointment could be on Wednesday. We told the lady that we were leaving on Tuesday and she said, "Oh, well we'll be closed from Thursday until the next Tuesday, so she could stay here during that time and have extra time to heal."

And that was it. We adopted her right then and there. She didn't know the name that was written down, so we decided to name her "Lyla." We will pick her up from Metro the day that we move into our new place - Dec. 1st.

Our trip to Wisconsin for Christmas may be a little more eventful, but she was too perfect to pass up.

This is the picture from Metro's site. She's even cuter in real life and I'll post pictures as soon as she's home.

Moving and studying

Moving is not that much fun, but compared to studying, it's the best thing since sliced bread!

I'm trying really hard to get some studying done because I have a quiz on Monday and a test on Tuesday, but with all this moving mania, it's really hard to focus.

Moving

Chris and I started moving yesterday. We packed the car to it's fullest capacity and made 2 runs. There's still a lot to move, but we're getting there. Moving is messy! Our apartment is an absolute wreck and our new place doesn't look much better. Slowly but surely, right?

While our new place is bigger than our current place, it is shaped differently and has different outlets, phone lines, etc. so trying to figure out the layout of our furniture is going to be tricky - especially when we have to move everything but the furniture for now. We'll figure it out.

All right, back to moving and then studying tonight. My life is so much fun right now. :)

P.S. I "slept in" until about 6:30 today! And I was able to rest semi-peacefully until 7:15!

Yea for Thursday!

Today is Friday and I am so glad. (If you're confused, then you clearly don't remember that Thursday is the new Friday). I have class this morning, some errands to run and studying to do this afternoon, class from 4:30-7:30... then getting ready to move stuff tomorrow!

I'm so excited about moving (can you tell?) It's been killing me that we haven't had time to move anything yet, or even really time to pack anything up. We're going to try to move as much as we can this weekend. Some people from school offered to help us transport the big stuff on Tuesday afternoon instead of after Thanksgiving. It's going to be nuts, but hey, I'll take the help when I can get it. I'm just grateful that people have offered their time and trucks so generously.

Too early

I have been waking up between 4:30 and 6:00 AM for the past 2 weeks. At first I thought it was the time change thing, but now I'm pretty sure it's stress.

When I wake up, my thoughts are racing and filled with all sorts of worry - the new place isn't going to be everything I thought it would be. I'm never going to have time to study and move. I need to finish getting my name changed because it causes problems with every legal document including our new lease - but when do I have time? Don't forget to order new contacts. He said I need to get glasses too. Do I really want to pay for glasses though? I mean, will I wear glasses? Is it the cost that bothers me? If it's the cost, can we afford a dog then? With the scholarship. What if I don't have the scholarship? What it was a mistake? What if they finally get my address right and then I change it again?

Too many thoughts. Lord, help me to trust all of this to you.
